What is pad printing?
Pad printing is a great way to put a small logo on a product. The text below 1 mm can be clearly achieved. Pad printing is the best way to place the logo on pens or slightly rounded objects so that the pad can be easily rounded around the product.
Pad printing is very economical for quantities over 100, but the limit of pad printing is that it only fits small print areas. This surface is usually around 100mm x 100mm depending on the model and system of the buffer machine.
Pad printing is also limited to 1 or 2 color logos. It is possible to print up to 4 or 6 colors or even photographic images, but there are significant limitations that depend on the appearance of the logo and the object on which it is printed. Pens and other small things are most common.
Some products require pre-treatment or post-press treatment to ensure print durability. Especially plastics, where there are hundreds of different types, do not accept all the most common types of paint. Where possible, metal products are placed in the oven to quickly bind the paint. If the product has plastic components then the oven cannot be used and the ink must be treated for 2 or more days before it is recommended for printing. This delay must be taken into account when working with short deadlines.
Pad printing is very durable and long-lasting, but it is not permanent on metals. Items that will be constantly exposed to touch, wear (eg key rings) are rarely printed with a pad. For permanent marking on metal, laser engraving is the best way to achieve long-lasting results.
The wide range of the industry in which pad printing is used provides convincing evidence of its versatility.
Automotive application
In today's car market, virtually all new vehicles contain parts and components that are printed with pad printing... Some good examples include speedometer, position indicators, fuel, hood lever release, fuse blocks, radio buttons, climate control switches, and indicators.
Electronic applications
The market that is expanding rapidly in favor of pad printing is the electronics industry. Semiconductors, resistors, surfaces of built-in devices, mobile phones and many other electrical components are printed with codes with markings and other information. Alpha-numeric design on keyboards and legends on enclosures are common applications in this industry.
CD applications
The phenomenal growth in the music industry has led many manufacturers to use pad printing. Manufacturers, who often cannot do their decorations at home, choose the pad printing process because of the better resolution, sophisticated tools, as well as repeatability of the print.
Medical applications
In the medical industry, pad printing is used on IV tube syringes and many other plastic and medical products. Consumer health products are increasingly being printed with pad printing, especially items for children.
